'Fundamenta Eius Montibus Sanctis' - The Unique Puh Sarang Church

Fundamenta Eius montibus sanctis means "He puts His pondamen on holly mountains".  This meaningful words was spoken on June 11 , 1936 as the architect Mr.Henricus Maclaine Pont started to built this unique church on behalf of Mr.Humbertus Wolters CM. The  church is located in Puh Sarang village on the slopes of  Mount Wilis, about 10 km western of Kediri , East Java , Indonesia. That's why it is called Puh Sarang Church.
I went there few years ago with my mom. We were accompanied by my brother and his family who live in Pare , small town  on the outskirts of  Kediri.  As we entered  the entrance , we agreed that we felt in love to this beauty church. The influence of Hindu - Java architecture and local cultures has made this church and its area blend with the nature. The gate is using  a kind of stones just as we have seen on many Java's temples. I  really like to stare at a bell on the top of the gate at  the center of the entrance.

The church building  divided into  main bulding and the veranda as an open area. In Java kingdoms tradition, there always an open area which called "pendopo".  This place is using  as the preparation area for people before entering the palace to meet the emperor. The church altar showing a unique shape which  built from massive stones. The whole building on this spot  are built from stones which are taken from surrounding area. The red bricks has dominated the church inside , and the altar shows specific shape using massive stones. That day was working day so we could not enter the main church. We just peeped at the altar through the yellow bars.
